- Southern Maine Writing Project's Young Authors' Camp
- The Southern Maine Writing Project is happy to offer a number of Young Author Camps across the region. YACs provide young writers an opportunity to freely explore different genres of writing that may include memoir, poetry, fiction, and non-fiction. Writers will develop their writing with the help of experienced classroom teachers and Southern Maine Writing Project Teacher-Consultants. Young writers will celebrate their work and share their creative pieces in a relaxed, non-competitive summer atmosphere with peers, mentors, and professional writers. Young writers will also have the opportunity to publish a high-quality piece of writing The Southern Maine Writing Project is dedicated to improving writing and learning across the curriculum and at all grade levels in Maine schools. SMWP engages teachers in thinking critically and creatively about writing in the classroom and leverages their excitement to improve writing and learning for all. The Young Authors’ Camp enhances and extends the work done in classrooms so students may continue to live a writer’s life and share their unique voices with our world.
